Illustration Friday -"FARM"-
This is my new entry for Illustration Friday, I'm still trying to get an Italian feeling of summer. I guess I'm a little nostaIgic! I grew up in Milan, but I spent every summer in the countryside of Friuli Venezia Giulia, with lots of vignards and corn fields. There is a lot of me in this illo. Hope you like it. Francesca

Illustration Friday -"RUN"-
This is my first submission to Illustration Friday, a very cool online art community. The theme of this week's illustration is "RUN". I tried to capture the atmosphere of an Italian afternoon during a child's game of hide and seek. Feel free to leave your critiques and comments. Ciao.

It's Francy's world!
Hello Everybody,
I just opened my Blog tonight and celebrated with my husband Geoff with some prosecco wine. I just got word that I received an honorable mention on the SCWBI contest (#20) for an illustration I posted a few days ago. The theme of the contest was the first day of school-What could have happened to make it REALLY special? I had in mind something that happened to me when I was at school in Italy many years ago. One morning we were visited by a class of kids from Russia. We were together for two weeks. It was a real blast and a way to get to know each other deeply. We realized that we were sharing the same dreams and desires and we traveled together all over Italy falling in love with my country. The vision I had on this illustration reflects the desire of a future of new discoveries, in a world where we understood our differences and we wanted to expand our collective knowledge towards other planets. It may take a while to get there, but at the same time it's fun to create a world where this is already possible. This is one of the reasons why I want to be a children's illustrator. I would love to get your comments on my work and to be a part of this community of artists that inspires me everyday. Please drop me a line!
